Dothan, Alabama, also known as the “HUB of the Wiregrass” as well as the “Circle City” that surrounds Dothan’s Downtown District, which before incorporation was called “Popular Head”. The definition of the “Mall” in “DothanAlabamaMall.com” is the wiregrass cities that surround the circle within a 50 mile radius (some smaller towns may be excluded, but added at a later date). Over the past 10 years, Dothan has also been nicknamed the “Mural City”, whereas “The Downtown Group” (a group of citizens who is coordinating the rehabilitation of the dowtown district) has implemented displays of our heritage by allowing artists to paint pictorial pictures of the wiregrass areas past on the old brick structures that where built in the early 1900’s.  Some of the pictures of these murals can be seen on the Dothan’s homepage of www.DothanAlabamaMall.com.

Also, most importantly we offer businesses the opportunity to share your business story on this website by advertising your products and services to the locals who would like to know about them.  There is a need for your product and a need for cost effective advertising of your website either by linking it, or allowing us to coordinate a quick and easy web page for you and your business.  You may also use your existing camera ready art work and or a storyline ad of how you survived the “World of Economics” within the communities that www.DothanAlabamaMall.com covers.

Credits for the knowledge that is available to us all.

Our locally owned and operated library, “Houston-Love Library” of Dothan, Alabama, along with the authors and contributors of each and every book written in this research are commended for their efforts in preserving our past so that it will not be lost from generation to generation.  As a child growing up in the Wiregrass, we learned about Alabama History, not our local history.  So, the Mall is allowing “FREE” links from Historical Websites and State and Local Organizations who help our community.  With respect the to these authors, I was granted permission to give you an overview of our history by the proclaimed, “Historian of Henry County” (and possibly the entire Wiregrass), Thomas Larry Smith. His “History blog” is posted below.

Making History Today
Blog by T. Larry Smith, Henry County Historian.
It’s interesting and fascinating to look back at yesteryear and see how we arrived at today. Knowing from whence we came and why certain things are the way they are can be beneficial. Also looking ahead at tomorrow and trying to anticipate and dream of the future is always wise and seemingly better. But what we do today is yesterday’s anticipation, hopes and dreams, and will become history tomorrow. Living to the fullest today and carrying out our tasks today is our main concentration and effort. Since we are making history today, attempt to make today the best you can and hope and dream of another good day tomorrow. But focus on making a little bit of history today. Looking back at yesterday is infinitely important and interesting. However, it’s today and the thrill of tomorrow that matters the most!
