The earliest settlers of Slocomb worked hard to create this town while today this tight-knit community treasures that lineage and rich history. The lumber industry started by Frank Slocomb is still active in the Slocomb economy but the community is famous for the “Slocomb Tomato” and all kinds of agricultural growth remains the primary industry.

A mecca of southern goodness in eastern Geneva County, AL, Slocomb, Alabama is a city nestled between peanut farms corn fields and vegetable crops. In recognition and appreciation of our farmers, the City of Slocomb celebrates the tomato on the 3rd Saturday in June of every year with a “Tomato Festival“. Citizens from all over the “Wiregrass” enjoy this yearly event, and take home some of the sweetest tasting tomatoes in the world!
Traditional family values are preserved and the older generation is respected. Senior Citizens enjoy activity programs, hot meals and limited transportation through the Senior Citizens Center. Our local merchants offer a variety of goods and services to the citizens of Slocomb and it’s sister communities of Malvern, Hartford and Geneva, Alabama. Slocomb streets leads it’s citizens to the rest of the world but will always welcome them back home.
Mayor Rob Hinson was first elected to the Slocomb City Council in 2004, and served four years in that governing body, chairing the Finance, Code and Ordinance Committee, and as a member of the Police and Rescue Squad committees. In August 2008, the citizens of Slocomb elected Mr. Hinson to serve as Mayor.
