This could be the what the controversy is all about. “God of the Bible”. It’s being ruled unconstitutional because we as Christian believers all pray. but the majority of the world do not pray to our God. Lets be realistic, not controversial. Let’s live in peace with our prayers and allow other’s to make that decision for themselves when they feel it is right for them. But always let them know that our God is a “Loving God!”

Local and some not so local drivers who love legal speed showed up this Sunday to either test and tune or just plain drive fast to the finish line! Whether they wanted to Drag Race or Bracket Race, these guy’s (and girls) love to go fast.

Keep watching the video and you’ll see race track owner Bud Moore race his daughter Summer’s “Big Block Chevrolet Truck” (the burgandy truck on the right lane) for a “old school” competition! David Spooner couldn’t resist his competitive nature when he saw this “in the day” racer/owner drive up the ramp to the starting line, “(Is) That Bud Moore?”, he said, “Unhook my truck!“, waving his arm to his brother who had just plugged it up to charge his truck for his next trial.

It was an interesting day with a Gambler’s Choice Race where interested racer’s put up their own funds as a “pot” for the best man to win. David Spooner was today’s winner of this Sunday afternoon Gambler’s Race. The track will be open at 12:pm every Sunday until December for this type of fun-filled afternoon. Spectators are welcomed to spend the afternoon watching the racers for only $5.00 each. Concessions include great prices for hot dog’s, chicken fingers, barbeque, french fries and boiled peanuts to name a few items.

The difference between Drag Racing and Bracket Racing.

Pure Drag Racing consists of racing two cars from a dead stop to some given distance, typically 1/4 or 1/8 mile. The car that crosses the finish line first is the winner.

Bracket Racing consists of the same type of track and starting systems, but racing vehicles are grouped by their elapsed time (ET) potential,and raced against each other using a pre-selected dial-in.

Two competing cars from the same bracket are paired, and the starting lights are staggered such that the slower car’s starting lights begin the sequence first by the difference of the two dial-ins. So the slower car will pull out before the faster car based on that difference. If both cars ran quicker than their respective dials, the car that ran the closest to its dial in, is the winner.

Experienced bracket racers have different methods of selecting their dial in, either slower than the car can actually run (sometimes called sand bagging) and then trying to stay slightly ahead of the other car, or dialing as close as the car will actually run. When watching a bracket race, look at the numbers posted at the end of a finish line before the racer’s stage. This is their predicted dial in they feel they will run. When the racers cross the finish line the numbers either stay the same (they ran their dial in), and didn’t breakout (they didn’t run too fast) and didn’t red light when they left the starting line. If the other racer ran the same, the race winner is determined by the best reaction time to the tree when they left the starting line.

So you see, Bracket Racing is not just about speed, it’s about using strategy against your competitors. Speed is only a figment of the driver’s car’s ability to run the numbers they have selected for it to go. When you select your favorite driver to be favored to win the race, you should watch their ability to predict their dial in, have a better reaction to the stage lights, and also cross the finish line first!

The Claybank Jamboree is a yearly community event in Ozark, Alabama, the County Seat for Dale County, Alabama. The name Claybank is from the earlier naming of the community before it’s incorporation as Ozark. The only standing landmark known to be in existence in remembrance of this earlier name is the the “Claybank Church and Cemetery“. Built from logs with lightwood stumps serving as a foundation in 1859, Claybank Church is a prized possession of the citizens living in Ozark, Alabama. Located on East Andrews Avenue the Church is on the National Register of Historic Places as of 1976.

The Claybank Jamboree offered by the city of Ozark for it’s citizens and neighboring communities celebrates the history of the community as well as the present day business efforts that the local square offers it’s citizens and visitors alike. The Jamboree offers you a chance to browse for bargains among exquisite antiques, vintage furniture, homemade quilts, and other special keepsakes from days gone by. Activities include an Art Show, a 5K Fun Run, local musical and youth entertainment, arts and crafts vendors and food booths. This event is held the first Saturday in October and is eagerly anticipated by all that attend this free entry and parking event.
